Yes for scale, not for pay. Florida is the third-largest state, 23.5 million people, and fourth in NP jobs. With a compact RN base the add runs about $146 including state fingerprint fees. The board quotes two to six months, with a 7-day statutory issue once a file is complete. Pay averages about 5% below the national mean.

Why Florida.

What it takes.

APRN licensure by endorsement, combined application and licensure fee$110
RN licensure by endorsement (only without a compact multistate RN)$110
Fingerprint processing, FDLE and FBI (vendor service charge extra)$36
Autonomous-practice registration, primary care (optional)No fee listed
All-in$146 with a compact RN base ($256 without)

Board and FDLE processing fees; Livescan vendors add their own service charge. Verification, score-transfer, and certifier fees come on top, and financial-responsibility coverage is its own requirement. Fees change; verified July 28, 2026.

Board quote: two to six months for the application process. Florida reviews initial applications within 30 days and, by statute, issues an endorsement license within 7 days once every requirement is met. The months in between are document-chasing, and nothing is guaranteed.

The weight: 6 document types (7 with a records history) moving between 8 parties, including the board, an approved Livescan vendor, FDLE and the FBI, every state you’ve held a license in, NCSBN, your certifier, and your malpractice insurer. Done yourself, that’s 5 to 10 hours per application and months of status-checking.

Renews every two years: $60 APRN, plus $75 RN if you keep a Florida RN license, plus a $43.25 fingerprint-retention fee every five years. 24 CE hours per cycle built around Florida’s mandated course list; national specialty certification exempts the rest, but never the controlled-substances or human-trafficking courses.
